Beech Senior High School is one of the three high schools in Hendersonville, Tennessee. The current school officially opened on August 27, 1981, under the direction of Mr. Merroll N. Hyde. In 1986, the first female principal in Sumner County, Mrs. Mary Clouse, became the principal. Mr. Frank Cardwell became the principal in the 1999-2000 school year.

The school's mascot is the Buccanneer, which is frequently shortened to "Buc." The school colors are royal blue and orange.

A major change occurred in the 2005-2006 school year when T.W. Hunter Middle School's new campus was completed. Beech relocated many of its ninth grade classes to the old T.W. Hunter building, now the high school's annex.

The school has a cross-town rivalry with Hendersonville High School. The HHS-BHS football game is usually a big event in the town of Hendersonville and most of the city dwellers flock to the game.

Beech softball holds four state titles. Beech is the 2009 Class 5A State Football Champion.

Football

Beech has an excellent football program with the head coach (Anthony Crabtree), defensive back coach (Kerry Jackson), linebackers coach (Keith Powell), running backs coach (Darrel Keen), defensive line coach (Ryan Harris), Quarterback coach (Patrick Duffer), Outside linebackers coach (Mark Romero), and receivers coach (Kyle Shipley).

It is very seldom that Beech will lose to their crosstown rivals, however, recently Hendersonville has broken the 6-year streak Beech had set. Beech is the 2009 Class 5A State Football Champion.

Academics

Classes at BHS follow either the Standard, Honors, or Advanced Placement level, excluding those in the Fine Arts and some other courses. The school has ACT, SAT, and Gateway test scores that are at or above state and national averages. The school has a 9/10 rating on greatschools.net.[2]
